Henry's Latest Obession

I came to the realization this week that I had not yet updated the blog on Henry's latest obsession. Perhaps it is just such a big part of our life these days - that I have failed to mention the obvious.

Since before his birthday he has been very interested in basketball nets. The interest stems from having a very cool, child-sized basketball net at his tumbling tots class - which he has come to master (in his own mind) over the past year. It was fueled by his Nana Woodhouse getting him his own basketball net for his second birthday (which proudly has it's home in his room, although sometimes it travels outside on nice days).

The boy is all about BASKETBALL! Our walk conversation has evolved from noticing garage doors...to counting basketball hoops in the neighborhood. He is excellent at pointing them out (actually, it's kind of scary how well he can remember which houses have them!). His recognition of the sport continues when we are driving around....he'll randomly shout with glee, "BASKETBALL RIGHT THERE!" And I'll look around (while trying not to cause an accident) where the hoop is...and surely enough, there is always one there...somewhere.

Henry can also name the different parts .... stand, post, backboard, hoop, and net. He knows to proudly yell, "SCORE" or "TWO POINTS" or "HIGH FIVE" when making a basket. When someone misses, he'll say kindly, "Nice try." If a net is not around, he will ask me to make "basketball arms" (ie hold my arms out in front of me to make a hoop).

...at least it's not just "raj" anymore...now it's more like, "Basketball on that garage."

ahh, progress!
